Two chased wells joined by a raised central spine, a looping handle rising at each end, and a spoon for each side. Chased over every surface, in German Silver with no gold polish anywhere on it. Boxed in navy velvet.

The chasing is the whole object

There is no plain metal on this piece to rest your eye on, and that is deliberate. Flower medallions sit inside teardrop panels across both wells, a fine lace border runs around the rim, the central spine carries its own pattern, and even the spoon handles are chased.

Because it is all one colour, the pattern has to do the work that a two-tone finish usually does — which is why it reads as heavier and older than it is. Fill it and the almonds sit in a bed of flowers rather than in a bowl.

Two wells, one body

It is a single piece, not two bowls on a stand. The spine between the wells stops anything rolling from one side to the other, and the two handles let you lift it across a table with one hand while it is full.

The handles are what make it 3.5 inches tall — the wells themselves are shallow. Worth knowing before you plan to slide it onto a low cabinet shelf or stack anything on top of it.

We sell two twin bowls — this is the plain one

Same size, same price, genuinely different objects. Thirty seconds now saves a return:

  • This one — German Silver throughout, no gold polish at all, chased over every surface, navy velvet box. Quieter, and there is no plated finish to wear off.
  • The gold polish twin bowl — gold on the outside, rims and handles with the wells left bright, red velvet box. Louder on a table, and the gold will wear at the handles over time.

If it is going to be used often, this is the one. If it is going straight onto a shelf as a display piece, the gold one photographs better.

Size

  • The set — 6.5 inches end to end, 3.5 inches tall to the top of the handles
  • Two spoons — sized to the wells, chased on the handle and plain in the bowl

Two wells inside 6.5 inches means each one is small. This is a side piece for the coffee table, the mandir or a guest tray — dry fruit for visitors, mishri and saunf after a meal. It is not a serving bowl for a dinner table. For real capacity, the seven-piece dry fruit set with its 11-inch tray is the larger option.

Keep it dry

  • Dry things. Nuts, dry fruit, mukhwas, mishri, saunf, elaichi, chocolates, dried petals.
  • Not wet, oily or sour. Chutney, halwa, curd, anything in syrup — chasing this fine traps it, and getting it out means the kind of scrubbing that flattens the pattern.
  • A small liner inside the well solves it if you want to serve something wet at a party.

Material and care

German Silver is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. There is no silver in it — the name describes the colour, not the content. There is no gold polish anywhere on this set, so there is no plated layer to wear through; what you see is the metal itself.

  • Wipe the raised chasing with a dry cotton cloth and leave the recesses dark. That shadow is what makes the flower work read — polish it flat and the pattern disappears.
  • No metal polish, no scouring powder, no dish scrubber. The border here is lace-fine and it will not survive abrasives.
  • Do not soak it. Water sits in the chasing and dries as spotting.
  • It will darken over a few months. That is tarnish, not damage — the care guide has the method.

Why people give it

It gets used the evening it arrives — filled with dry fruit and put out for whoever is visiting. That makes it easy for Diwali, a wedding, a griha pravesh or a housewarming, Bhai Dooj, or a return gift at a function. Because there is no gold polish, it also suits a household that keeps a plain mandir. The navy box is clasped and lined, so it hands over as it is.

In the box

  • One twin bowl, 6.5 x 3.5 inch, chased German Silver
  • Two chased spoons
  • Navy velvet gift box with brass clasps

The dry fruits, flowers, coffee cup, brass bowls and tealights in the photographs are styling, not part of the order.

What exactly is German Silver?

An alloy of copper, nickel and zinc — no silver in it at all. It holds a bright, warm shine, resists tarnish far better than sterling, and costs a fraction as much. Indian households have used it for generations for exactly this reason.

How do I clean and care for it?

Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth — then dry it straight away. No steel wool, no scouring powder. Wipe off ghee, oil and kumkum the same day. It will darken slowly over months; that is tarnish, not damage, and a dry cloth brings it back.

When will it reach me?

Dispatched within 48 hours with a tracking link by SMS and email. 3–4 working days to metros, 4–6 elsewhere. Prepaid only — we do not offer cash on delivery.

Can I return it?

Yes — within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original box, for a full refund. We arrange the pickup. Engraved pieces are the only exception.

Hand-finished German Silver pieces arranged on plinths — an engraved thali, jali water bottle and tumblers, lotus aarti diya and a gold-lined bowl in a velvet box

Why German Silver

Made to be used, not stored away

Every piece is spun on a hand lathe rather than pressed out of a die, chased with a chisel, and checked by a person before it is seated in its velvet case.

  • An alloy the whole way through — there is no plating to wear off
  • Resists tarnish far better than sterling — a dry cloth, not a polish kit
  • Food-safe and non-reactive — serve prasad, kheer and dry fruit from it
