Three pieces that belong on the same shelf: a pooja bell with a feather crown, a paan-leaf sindoor daani, and a feather pin to apply with. All German Silver, all carrying the same red stone and gold polish work, seated together in one red velvet box.

This is the set for a wedding or a first home — one gift that covers the aarti and the dressing table, rather than two that have to be chosen separately.

The bell

6.5 inches tall with a 2-inch mouth. The handle is a feather crown set with a red stone, and a dark ridged bead in the rudraksha form sits at the neck where your fingers land — which is also what stops the handle turning cold and slippery mid-aarti.

It rings. The clapper is hung inside on a loop, not fixed, so the note carries rather than clicking. Hold it by the handle and let the bell hang free; muffling it against the palm is what makes a good bell sound cheap.

The sindoor daani

A paan leaf, 3 inches across, with a gold-polish clasp at the stem and a red stone ringed in small white beads on the lid. The outside is engraved over the whole surface; the inside is left plain so powder tips out clean.

Note on sizing: the daani in this set is the 3-inch one. Our two-piece sindoor daani set has a larger 5-inch daani with two separate compartments inside. Worth knowing before you buy both.

The feather pin

5 inches long, 2 inches across the vane, cut as a peacock feather with a stone at the eye and a tapering shaft that ends in a rounded point. It draws a clean line in the parting, which a fingertip does not.

What the metal and the stones actually are

German Silver — an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. There is no silver in it. The name describes the colour, not the content.

The gold-coloured clasps and settings are gold polish. Not gold, not gold-plated, not vermeil — a gold-tone finish over the same base metal, and we will not describe it as anything else.

The stones are set stones and the white beads are beads. Not rubies, not diamonds, not pearls. They are properly set in bezels and prongs rather than glued into a recess, which is the part that actually matters for whether they stay in.

Size

  • Bell — 6.5 inch tall, 2 inch across the mouth
  • Sindoor daani — 3 inch long, 2.5 inch wide
  • Feather pin — 5 inch long, 2 inch across

Care

  • Never submerge any of the three. Water sits behind set stones and inside the bell, and it does not come out. Damp cloth outside, dry immediately.
  • Empty the daani before cleaning it. Wet sindoor stains and then sets hard in a corner.
  • Light hand on the gold polish. Scrubbing wears a gold-tone finish faster than anything else. No metal polish on it.
  • The German Silver darkens over a few months, first in the recesses of the engraving. That is tarnish, not damage — the care guide has the method.

In the box

  • One pooja bell, German Silver, 6.5 inch
  • One paan-leaf sindoor daani, 3 inch
  • One feather pin, 5 inch
  • Red velvet gift box with a brass clasp, fitted for all three

What exactly is German Silver?

An alloy of copper, nickel and zinc — no silver in it at all. It holds a bright, warm shine, resists tarnish far better than sterling, and costs a fraction as much. Indian households have used it for generations for exactly this reason.

How do I clean and care for it?

Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth — then dry it straight away. No steel wool, no scouring powder. Wipe off ghee, oil and kumkum the same day. It will darken slowly over months; that is tarnish, not damage, and a dry cloth brings it back.

When will it reach me?

Dispatched within 48 hours with a tracking link by SMS and email. 3–4 working days to metros, 4–6 elsewhere. Prepaid only — we do not offer cash on delivery.

Can I return it?

Yes — within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original box, for a full refund. We arrange the pickup. Engraved pieces are the only exception.

Hand-finished German Silver pieces arranged on plinths — an engraved thali, jali water bottle and tumblers, lotus aarti diya and a gold-lined bowl in a velvet box

Why German Silver

Made to be used, not stored away

Every piece is spun on a hand lathe rather than pressed out of a die, chased with a chisel, and checked by a person before it is seated in its velvet case.

  • An alloy the whole way through — there is no plating to wear off
  • Resists tarnish far better than sterling — a dry cloth, not a polish kit
  • Food-safe and non-reactive — serve prasad, kheer and dry fruit from it
