Engraved Tumbler — 4 Inch
A single glass, four inches tall, chased by hand from the foot to the rim. The pattern is a continuous field of flowers and leaves with no repeat you can easily find — it runs right round the body, and the only plain surfaces on the piece are the ones that need to be plain.
Three finishes on one object
Look at it closely and it is doing three different things at once:
- The body is chased all over — matt, textured, and the reason the glass catches light from every angle rather than reflecting a window back at you.
- The rim carries a narrow reeded band, cut in fine vertical lines. It gives your lip something to meet and your fingers something to grip on a wet glass.
- The foot is left mirror-bright and flares out under the body. It lifts the glass off the table, so the chased surface never sits in a ring of condensation.
The inside is completely plain and polished. Nothing to catch, nothing to clean out of, and no pattern pressing through to the drinking surface.
Size
- Height — 4 inch
- One glass.
This is a short tumbler, not a long glass — the size you hand someone water, chaas, thandai or a small sherbet in, rather than a full glass of juice. If you want the tall stemmed version, our Engraved Goblets are 9.5 inches and come as a pair.
Drinking from it
German Silver is non-reactive and food safe, and a metal glass is genuinely pleasant to drink water from — it takes the temperature of what is in it, which is half the appeal. Two limits worth knowing:
- Fill it when you serve it. Lemon water, chaas, juice — anything acidic left standing in an unlined metal glass overnight is a bad idea, ours included.
- Cold and room temperature only. Metal conducts. A hot drink makes the glass too hot to hold, and there is no handle here.
Material and care
German Silver is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. There is no silver in it — the name describes the colour, not the content. There is no gold polish anywhere on this piece.
- Hand wash only. A dishwasher will dull the chasing and the bright foot. Warm water, mild soap, soft sponge.
- Dry it immediately, inside and out. Water standing in the bowl is the thing that marks it.
- No metal polish on the body. The cutting is fine and shallow; polish flattens it. The foot can be brought back with a cloth.
- It will darken over a few months, first inside the chasing — which is what makes the flowers read. That is tarnish, not damage. The care guide has the method.
Why a single glass
Because one good glass is a better gift than four ordinary ones, and because a single boxed piece is the right weight for the occasions people actually buy for: a return gift, shagun, a thank-you, a housewarming where you do not want to arrive with something large. It also stacks up — buy two or three for a set that matches, or one at a time.

What exactly is German Silver?
An alloy of copper, nickel and zinc — no silver in it at all. It holds a bright, warm shine, resists tarnish far better than sterling, and costs a fraction as much. Indian households have used it for generations for exactly this reason.
How do I clean and care for it?
Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth — then dry it straight away. No steel wool, no scouring powder. Wipe off ghee, oil and kumkum the same day. It will darken slowly over months; that is tarnish, not damage, and a dry cloth brings it back.
When will it reach me?
Dispatched within 48 hours with a tracking link by SMS and email. 3–4 working days to metros, 4–6 elsewhere. Prepaid only — we do not offer cash on delivery.
Can I return it?
Yes — within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original box, for a full refund. We arrange the pickup. Engraved pieces are the only exception.

Why German Silver
Made to be used, not stored away
Every piece is spun on a hand lathe rather than pressed out of a die, chased with a chisel, and checked by a person before it is seated in its velvet case.
- An alloy the whole way through — there is no plating to wear off
- Resists tarnish far better than sterling — a dry cloth, not a polish kit
- Food-safe and non-reactive — serve prasad, kheer and dry fruit from it
