Engraved Goblets — Set of 2
Two goblets, 9.5 inches tall, with a hand-engraved German Silver bowl rising out of a gold polish stem. They come seated in a blue velvet box, which is most of the reason people buy them — this is a gift you hand over, not one you wrap.
The engraving is the whole product
The bowl is cut by hand: a band of flowers and leaves over a cross-hatched ground, running all the way round and all the way down to where the metal meets the stem. Look at the two glasses side by side and the pattern lands slightly differently on each — that is a chisel, not a roller.
The stem flares into the bowl in a single sweep rather than meeting it at a joint, and the foot is weighted, which is what stops a tall glass like this being top-heavy when it is full.
What the metal actually is
German Silver — an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. There is no silver in it. The name describes the colour, not the content.
The gold on the stem and foot is gold polish. Not gold, not gold-plated, not vermeil — a gold-tone finish over the same base metal. We will not call it anything else, and you should treat it as the most delicate part of the glass.
How to actually use them
These are serving glasses. Pour, serve, drink, rinse — that is the cycle they are built for, and within it they are excellent.
- Do not leave a drink standing in them for hours. Wine, juice, nimbu paani — anything acidic sitting in an unlined metal cup overnight is a bad idea, ours included. Fill them when the guests arrive, not before.
- Cold and room temperature only. Metal conducts — a hot drink will make the bowl too hot to hold, and there is no insulation here.
- They work as well for thandai, sherbet, juice and mocktails as for anything stronger, which is worth remembering if you are gifting them to a household you do not know well.
Care
- Hand wash only. A dishwasher will strip the gold polish off the stem in a handful of cycles. Warm water, mild soap, soft sponge.
- Dry immediately, inside and out. Water left standing in the bowl is what marks it.
- No metal polish, no scouring. On the engraved bowl you will flatten the cut; on the stem you will take the finish off.
- The German Silver darkens over a few months, first inside the engraving — which is what makes the pattern read. That is tarnish, not damage. The care guide has the method.

What exactly is German Silver?
An alloy of copper, nickel and zinc — no silver in it at all. It holds a bright, warm shine, resists tarnish far better than sterling, and costs a fraction as much. Indian households have used it for generations for exactly this reason.
How do I clean and care for it?
Warm water, mild soap, soft cloth — then dry it straight away. No steel wool, no scouring powder. Wipe off ghee, oil and kumkum the same day. It will darken slowly over months; that is tarnish, not damage, and a dry cloth brings it back.
When will it reach me?
Dispatched within 48 hours with a tracking link by SMS and email. 3–4 working days to metros, 4–6 elsewhere. Prepaid only — we do not offer cash on delivery.
Can I return it?
Yes — within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original box, for a full refund. We arrange the pickup. Engraved pieces are the only exception.

Why German Silver
Made to be used, not stored away
Every piece is spun on a hand lathe rather than pressed out of a die, chased with a chisel, and checked by a person before it is seated in its velvet case.
- An alloy the whole way through — there is no plating to wear off
- Resists tarnish far better than sterling — a dry cloth, not a polish kit
- Food-safe and non-reactive — serve prasad, kheer and dry fruit from it
